The 34-unit Master of Arts in Global Studies program provides a comprehensive perspective on international issues, including globalization, development, peace and conflict, human rights, and international law. It prepares you for careers in international affairs, including non-governmental organizations, foreign service, and international organizations and corporations. Each student will pursue professional development through an internship, by acquiring professional skills in courses, and by designing a capstone project aligned with their research interests.

Program Learning Outcomes
Upon Completion of the MA in Global Studies, students will be able to: - Develop a critical interdisciplinary understanding of the major historical, structural, and cultural power relations that have shaped global dynamics
- Articulate and analyze the differences between diverse approaches to address global injustices and inequities
- Demonstrate an ability to critically engage cultural difference and diversity and evaluate their significance in the contemporary world
- Generate a self-directed, designed and executed interdisciplinary capstone or thesis project
- Demonstrate analytical and practical skills relevant for working in the field of global affairs
Major Requirements (34 units)
Core Required Courses (14 units)
These courses will be required of all students in the program Required Thematic Courses (8 units)
8 units are required (2 out of 3 courses) Elective Courses (4 units, one course)
Research Seminars Skills Electives (4 units)
4 units are required Additional Elective or Skills Courses (4 units)
4 units are required Internship (120 Hours)
Students are required to complete 120 hours of practical training/internship as an integral component of the curriculum. Students are required to submit a proposal for their internship and complete at least 20 hours in their first year. They may complete the remaining hours at any point in the two years. |
