The USF School of Law’s Tax Writing Certificate Program is an innovative and unique offering, consisting of three courses and totaling five units. The Tax Writing Certificate Program comprises courses that are already a part of our LLM in Taxation and Masters in Legal Studies in Taxation degree programs. The curriculum places a strong emphasis on tax technical writing and research through application, filling a critical skills gap identified by our students and by employers in law firms and consulting firms.

Program Learning Outcomes
Students who complete the Tax Research & Writing Certificate Program at the University of San Francisco, School of Law will be able to:
- Identify and analyze complex tax issues, applying relevant legal principles and tax code provisions to real-world scenarios
- Develop effective research skills in the field of tax law, utilizing a range of primary and secondary sources, including statutes, regulations, case law, and scholarly literature
- Communicate complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner, through effective legal writing
