Anthropology Minor

The Anthropology minor begins with the powerful idea that human behavior can only be fully understood when it is seen in the context of humanity as a whole – the totality and diversity of human life and experience across the globe. This means adopting a holistic and cross-cultural perspective.

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Develop an understanding of core concepts in anthropology including, but not limited to, culture, holism, ethnocentrism, and cultural relativity
  • Develop a familiarity with anthropological methods, notably participant observation and interviewing, and other research strategies and tools used to collect ethnographic data
  • Develop an understanding of ethical behavior in social science research

Minor Requirements (20 units)

The minor consists of two required courses and three electives. Two electives must be in anthropology; the third elective can be in anthropology or chosen from a list of appropriate courses in a variety of disciplines.
