Program Learning Outcomes
- Possess domain knowledge of the problems and issues central to working with health data.
- Possess a solid theoretical understanding of, and ability to apply, HIPAA and other standards as they impact the security and privacy of health data, data standards and formats for transfer and storage of medical data.
- Effectively use modern programming languages (eg.: Python, R, SQL, Javascript, Java etc.) to clean, organize, query, summarize, visualize, and model a variety of data.
- Possess a solid theoretical understanding of, and ability to apply, statistical models and classification techniques.
- Possess the ability to independently solve new challenges without supervision utilizing documentation, third party APIs and problem-solving approaches.
- Be prepared for careers as health informatics professionals by integrating with the Bay Area health informatics community, solving real-world data-driven business problems with members of this community, developing professional presentation and interviewing skills.
Courses (16 units)
The Executive Certificate in Clinical Informatics requires to completion of at least 16 units (typically 4 courses) of the Master of Science in Health Informatics (MSHI) courses from those listed below. To maintain maximum flexibility, no courses are required.
