BUS 438 - Global Financial Investments Unit(s): 4
The international financial markets and the investment opportunities they present are discussed in this
course. As the global economy becomes more integrated investment capital flows more freely around the
globe offering investors a far greater range of investment choices than can be found in their own country.
Modern portfolio theory suggests that foreign investments offer both the potential for higher returns and
reduction of the overall risk of the portfolio. The international investment markets analyzed are equities,
bonds/fixed income, commodities, currencies, and real estate. Vehicles for making these investments
including mutual funds, ETFs, futures, swaps, and options as well as direct investment are considered.
Risk management for global investments is also discussed.
