BAM 305 - Mngmnt Principles: Financials

Building on the accounting fundamentals, this course introduces basic principles in finance such as cash flow, the time value of money, valuation of the firm and financial assets, and capital budgeting. The course’s overall goals are to examine the role financial management plays in ensuring the company’s profitability as well as in the nonprofit organization’s successful accomplishment of its stated mission. The course examines how organizations are financed, both from external as well as internal sources. Then, we will examine risk and how it affects the value of assets. Based on understanding of the time value of money concept, we will focus on the methods business organizations use to evaluate investment proposals. Upon completion of this course, students will have a solid foundation in developing an integrated framework for strategic financial decision-making.
