ENVS 381 - Water & Wastewater Treatment

This course covers a range of topics related to water quality and water and wastewater treatment. We look at how water quality varies in the environment, discuss common sources of water for domestic use and review regulations that ensure water is safe for drinking, for non-potable uses, or to discharge in the environment; focus on understanding chemical, biological and engineering processes used in treating water and wastewater. Both traditional and emerging technologies in water and wastewater are covered, as well as emerging challenges in the field, water scarcity and the potential of water reuse. Through case studies, social implications of water and wastewater treatment are discussed.


Prerequisite: ENVS 212 with a minimum grade of C and CHEM 151 with a minimum grade of C
