Directed study is independent, in-depth study of a specific educational topic. This study can include field work, field study, research, curriculum development, traineeships, and internships (paid or unpaid). MA students can take up to 6 units of directed study toward their degree and doctoral students can take up to 9 units of directed study toward their degree.
