POLS 425 - Fire, Water and Food Unit(s): 4
California’s landscape is wonderfully rich, and also undergoing rapid changes. This course explores the environmental policies of California through the lenses of fire, water and food. Why are our forests and towns burning? Can we solve our water shortage? Why does the agricultural center of the country have so many hungry people? This course looks at the policy choices that have made the state’s economy the powerhouse is currently is, and also investigate the policy challenges in responding to evolving environmental conditions. This is an active, experiential research course.
