HONC 106 - Reefs to Rainforests Unit(s): 2
This course introduces students to the flora and fauna of Central America. Key geological and ecological principles are introduced to explain the diversity of habitats, plants, and animals both in the marine and terrestrial realms of Costa Rica. The course focuses on both abiotic and biotic factors as they influence distributions and abundance of tropical flora and fauna. Students travel to Costa Rica and visit a diversity of habitats, including coral reefs, lowland rainforests, montane cloud forests, and upland tropical dry forests.
