PHIL 111 - CEL: Philosophical Questions Unit(s): 4
This course is an introduction to philosophy that explores great philosophical questions in a coeducational setting with students from both USF and Mt. Tamalpais Community College at San Quentin State Prison. Topics focus on ancient conceptions of knowledge and the good life as well as the social contract and its critics and includes readings from a range of ancient, contemporary, Western, and non-Western texts. USF students go into San Quentin for lectures and discussions and work on projects in coeducational groups. Registration for this course will require instructor approval and a proof of a negative TB test within the last year. Students must be 21 or older, and can’t know anyone currently incarcerated at San Quentin State Prison.
