BSPH 232 - Environmental Health and Justice Unit(s): 4
Environmental health considers the relationship of people and their environment, and addresses physical, chemical, biological, and social factors related to the environment that may affect population health. This course examines a variety of environmental hazards and contexts, their interactions with human health and well-being, and population-based disparities in environmental exposures and outcomes. Topics include air quality, water and sanitation, and aspects of the built environment. Students will learn how a variety of environmental factors affect health, how public health efforts prevent or minimize adverse health consequences, and how to make changes at the individual, community, and societal levels.
