SPAN 101M - Modified First Sem. Spanish Unit(s): 6
The first of a two-semester sequence designed for students with longstanding difficulties learning a foreign language and/or with official documentation from Student Disability Services (SDS). Includes the same overall scope and sequence as the other First Semester Spanish course but employs a multisensory, highly structured and metacognitive approach with explicit phonetic and grammar explanations and consistent repetition and review. While developing communication and basic language skills, students learn techniques and strategies to learn a language, identify personal learning styles and strengths and discover how to manage language learning in accordance with individual learning differences. Note: This course includes a mandatory one-hour weekly group conversation class with a tutor for nine weeks of the semester outside of the class meeting time. The schedule will be determined after the course begins.
