ENGR 410 - Project & Design Capstone I Unit(s): 2
In this, the first part of a year-long capstone course, students utilize the skills developed throughout their time in the program to define and develop a design plan to tackle a real-world engineering problem. This course covers iterative prototyping and production of the final solution. Students are expected to articulate how the audience-centered approaches support research, planning, organization and delivery via their oral presentations. In combination with ENGR 310: Project & Design III, this course is designed to meet USF’s Core A1 Public Speaking requirement. All projects are required to have a humanitarian or social justice aspect, and stem from needs expressed by an external partner. Students engage directly with user groups in an iterative design process – addressing community needs, taking into account social justice factors, while integrating their engineering knowledge and skills.
Prerequisite: ENGR 310 Restriction: Class restricted to Senior; Field of study restricted to Engineering Major College of Arts and Sciences
