POLS 313 - Politics of the Internet Unit(s): 4
This seminar targets one of the central forces in contemporary politics, society, and economy: the digital technology of the internet. Using a range of conceptual, structural, and empirical approaches, we address three critical questions: why is the internet governed the way it is? What is its relationship to political systems and institutions including democracy, authoritarianism, the state, and elections? And how does it affect political protest and other forms of participation?
