SPAN 220 - Español Profesiones Médicas

This course is designed specifically for biology, kinesiology, nursing, and psychology students aiming to perfect their oral proficiency of health-related Spanish. While the study of terminology related to the medical field constitutes the primary focus, students also gain understanding of the cultural norms and attitudes of the larger Hispanic community so that they can effectively communicate with Spanish-speaking patients (and their families) throughout a range of clinical encounters. The goal is to help students who already have an intermediate proficiency level expand both their linguistic knowledge and cultural awareness of the Spanish-speaking world to more comfortably work in a bilingual health-related setting.
