POLS 371 - USF in DC: Internship Unit(s): 8
This Community-Engaged Learning course provides undergraduate students the unique opportunity to study public policy formation through course materials, reflection, discussion, and an internship in Washington D.C. The course provides professional training, bring in guest speakers, and allow students to reflect on the many facets of a career devoted to public service. Public service might mean advocating for one’s deeply held values, but it also requires compromise, as well as an understanding of how policy decisions are negotiated and ultimately made. This class provides support to students as they find their future paths as citizens, advocates, leaders, and most importantly as public servants.
