Survey of Western Art History 2 studies the complex relationships between artists and the cultures in which they work, from the early 14th century to the present, exploring how art deals with questions of war and peace, social justice, religious belief, censorship, propaganda, gender, ethnic and social identity, and social critique. Special emphasis in this course is placed on visual analysis and reading and writing about modern art.
