NURS 609 - Foundations of Leadership in the Healthcare Microsys Unit(s): 2
This course reviews the historical context and contemporary issues for nurse leaders as they apply evidence-based practices to lead and change healthcare delivery systems and teams. The course focuses on the development of leadership, knowledge, skills, and attitudes at the clinical microsystem level to improve quality and safety while optimizing patient and organizational outcomes. This course explores theories and best practices which focus on fostering healthy work environments and building effective partnerships. Communication styles are compared and applied. The scope of nursing practice and interprofessional roles are examined and discussed within the framework of social justice and Jesuit values.
