ART 355 - Ceramics II

Unit(s): 4

Ceramics II builds upon and investigates the ceramic medium as a contemporary art and craft practice. Students explore contemporary artists’ use of clay as a visual medium to discuss identity and the creation of personal narratives, create ceramic artwork that examines the connection between personal narratives with self-identified groups and the society as a whole, and learn technical processes through projects, critiques, and discussions. Interpretation of artworks are considered as a meeting of artistic voice, design, and craft.
