NURS 760 - Psychopharmacology

This theory course will primarily focus on the effective clinical judgment in the psychopharmacological management of patients with mental illnesses across the lifespan. It will address the major categories of psychotherapeutic drugs, their drug interactions and the effects on the individual with psychiatric illness across the lifespan. Emphasis is on the advanced practice clinician’s role in the assessment, prescribing, and the administration schedules titration strategies of psychiatric medication. Assessment and management of potential medication adverse experiences, medication education and the side effect management for patients and their families is also a major focus.
