Geospatial Information Science (Graduate) Certificate

The Certification in Geospatial Information Science program provides students with a project-based curriculum teaching the latest geospatial technologies and applications that allow certificate recipients to pursue cutting-edge geospatial technology jobs. Students are required to take GIS1, GIS2 and GIS3 along with two electives to complete the certification.

Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion certificate recipients will be able to:
- Demonstrate a mastery of concepts in geospatial science
- Demonstrate proficiency in multiple geospatial science technologies
- Apply scientific methodology to a geospatial-based question and/or issue
- Skillfully communicate geospatial topics through written reports, oral presentations and/or multimedia displays
Certificate Requirements (10 units)
Core Courses (6 units)
Students are required to complete GIS1, GIS2, and GIS3 for the Certification in Geospatial Information Science (cGIS). Students may have a waiver if they have taken an equivalent course within the last 3 years using the same technologies.
Electives (4 units)
The certificate in GIS requires a total of 10 units. Students with waivers may take additional electives to meet the unit requirement.
