NURS 274 - Medical Surgical I - Alternative Health and Illness Unit(s): 3
The didactic course builds on Nursing Fundamentals I with a focus on nursing interventions for adults with acute and chronic conditions. Guided by Jesuit values of cura personalis, Magis, and service to others, this course integrates theory and research-based knowledge to develop clinical judgment and the provision of person-centered care. Emphasis is placed on quality, safety, professionalism, and equity. Interprofessional collaboration and integration of informatics and technology are developed to enhance communication, teamwork, and data-driven care while cultivating competence, conscience, and compassion in diverse healthcare settings.
Prerequisite: NURS 220 with a minimum grade of C and NURS 223 with a minimum grade of C and NURS 224 with a minimum grade of C and NURS 228 with a minimum grade of S Corequisite: NURS271, NURS273, NURS275 Restriction: Major Restricted to Nursing; Level restricted to Undergraduate; College restricted to Sch of Nursing and Health Prof School Nursing & Health Professions
