BSPH 201 - Intro Public and Global Health

Unit(s): 4

Public health seeks to understand and improve the health and wellbeing of populations. Global health extends this definition to worldwide improvement of health, reduction of disparities, and protection against global threats that disregard national borders. This course examines public and global health perspectives on population health, wellness, and illness. The interdisciplinary and interprofessional scope, methods, and practice of public health will be examined. The foundational areas in public health will be reviewed, including the global burden of disease. The course will also present an introduction to cross-cutting areas of public health (e.g., diversity and culture, ethics, systems thinking).
