THTR 340 - Page to Stage

Unit(s): 2

In this class students focus on techniques and methods required to support the process of directing live works for the stage. These include plays, but also material from other written sources, and movement/image based work. This is a hands-on class where students focus on the practical aspects of staging works, including text analysis, space analysis, blocking and stage composition, casting, working with actors and interacting with stage managers and designers. This course invites students to generate original work, culminating in the staging of short performances.
