NURS 326 - Palliative Care Nursing Unit(s): 1
This didactic course prepares students to advocate for and integrate palliative care for patients with serious illness and their families. Emphasizing Jesuit values like cura personalis and social justice, it fosters compassionate, patient-centered care. Topics include effective communication, pain and symptom management, and ethical decision-making. Students will reflect on their own cultural and spiritual values while learning to provide culturally sensitive care, collaborate across healthcare settings, and support families through grief. By course end, students will be equipped to deliver holistic, dignified care at all illness stages.
Prerequisite: NURS 271 with a minimum grade of C and NURS 273 with a minimum grade of C and NURS 274 with a minimum grade of C and NURS 275 with a minimum grade of S Corequisite: NURS328, NURS324, NURS323 Restriction: Major Restricted to Nursing; Level restricted to Undergraduate; College restricted to Sch of Nursing and Health Prof School Nursing & Health Professions
