COMS 362 - Communication & Education Unit(s): 4
This course is designed to highlight how communication plays a role in a variety of educational contexts. Whether you are interested in education from a student’s perspective, trainer’s perspective, or teacher’s perspective, the course offers insights into the sociopolitical development of our education system(s), various philosophical approaches to the art and labor of education, as well as lenses through which to understand diversity, learning styles, and educational participation. In this course, you are encouraged to consider education as a democratic practice and reflect upon what that means for you as a student and as a potential educator, and to think of educational spaces as those in which communication is a tool for the co-creation of meaning. The class helps you apply a variety of communication strategies to your specific educational interests and needs.
