INTD 175 - Reclaiming Our Vote I Unit(s): 2
The USFVotes community-engaged learning course critically examine the historical and current context of voting rights. Students explore the debates surrounding a direct and representative democracy, learn about voter suppression, develop grassroots skills, and advance the work of voter engagement. Through contemporary academic and activist scholarship, media resources, guest speakers, and voter registration and engagement outreach efforts, students take a close look at voting in America, and how that’s shaped what American democracy is, what it was meant to be, where it’s failed, and what it might become. This course is the first in a series of two courses that provide support for USF Votes and the Andrew Goodman Foundation, the campus-wide initiative to engage, register, educate, and mobilize voters.
