THRS 229 - Human Rights Ethics

Unit(s): 4

This course explores ways to bring the issues of human rights and sovereign states’ interests together. It examines some of the challenges and obstacles to human rights in contemporary society, such as the ethics of war and peace, world hunger and poverty, humanitarian aid, race, ethnicity, gender, migration, care for the environment, punishment, etc. We use ethical theories exploring morality as a consequence, act and intention, and character to critically reflect on these contemporary moral questions.
