Dante’s Divine Comedy is a poetic matrix where the Middle Ages and the Renaissance intersect, bringing together disciplines such as ethics, jurisprudence, history, philosophy, theology, and astrology. This course engages with the interdisciplinary aspects of Dante’s work to explore questions and connections between good and evil, developing ethical frameworks, and the role of works of art in shaping the relationship between aesthetics and ethics. The course also explores the lasting influence of Dante’s work on popular culture.
