INTD 299 - Understanding Racism in the US Unit(s): 4
This Community Engaged Learning (CEL) course supports international students in their understanding of race and racism in the U.S., continued anti-Black violence, white supremacy and its systemic challenges, and the practice of being anti-racist. The class examines racial dynamics in American society and their historical context, and offers a safe space to interrogate these issues. From this understanding, we are able to understand how all forms of oppression are rooted in the tension between white supremacy and anti-Blackness, including but not limited to anti-Asian and AAPI racism, homophobia and transphobia, misogyny, and socioeconomic class.
