PSYD 746 - EBP IV: Process Group

Unit(s): 1

Process group is often used as a laboratory, where students learn about themselves and take interpersonal risks in the service of living their lives more authentically, honestly, and more fully engaged emotionally. Practicing this type of relating not only helps students to become more aware of their own responses and reactions to others but helps them become more attuned clinicians. In my class I do my best to facilitate this process by leading the process group, discussing the interpersonal process as I see it happening in the experiential parts of the class as well as help students gain a better understanding of areas of difficulty they have with the theory and practice of group therapy. I am interested in teaching by example, mindful presence, and experiential, student-oriented learning. Confidentiality is an important aspect of group therapy and it will be discussed and reinforced.
