This course is the study of adolescent development, including special problems encountered in contemporary culture. The course focuses on current theoretical perspectives and empirical research findings on the processes of adolescent development and the applications of that research. The course examines the adolescent years, which can be considered the period of transition between childhood and adulthood that involves biological, cognitive, and socioemotional changes. Risk factors for adolescents and adolescents’ resilience in the face of these risk factors are examined.
