UPA 671 - Education Reform Unit(s): 4
This course helps students develop a set of tools for school reform so that they can effectively advocate for change. To this end, it investigates the context, history, and classroom realities for students, teachers, and staff to shed light on the ways urban schools are understood as both a cause of and solution for social ills. Students study the trends in urban education over time; the ways in which urban schools reflect and shape national discussions about politics, economics, and culture; and the various types of school reforms that have been successful.
