UPA 663 - Globaliz., Justice & The City Unit(s): 4
This course explores the contemporary global city as a dynamic space of political economic and social complexity that presents a variety of possibilities and challenges for its residents. In the context of extreme and growing economic inequality, this course examines how global circuits of capital and information shape the built environment and drive urban practices. We examine the historic particularities that produce each city, leading to unique political formations. By understanding cities as sites of economic, cultural and social difference, we explore the right to the city as a matter of political, economic and social justice.
