MPH 670 - Health Ed & Promotion Planning Unit(s): 2
In this course, students will work with a practice partner to gain practical and hands-on experiences in health education and promotion for individuals and communities, including underserved populations. Students will design, plan, and deliver training, curriculum, and interventions using face-to-face and technology-supported health education and promotion strategies. Students will apply learnings from previous coursework to plan and conduct workshops and presentations, one-on-one health education counseling, and outreach events, among other wellness activities. This course will emphasize volunteer recruitment, partnerships, project management, cultural competency, personal values clarification, teamwork, and technology integration. Finally, this course promises to be challenging and rewarding for students and provide them with the knowledge and skills to promote health awareness, behavioral change, disease prevention, and wellness, especially on the following topics: general nutrition, physical education, sexual health, tobacco use, alcohol and other drugs, and stress management.
