O&L 602 - Advocacy & Policy Unit(s): 3
A complex system of federal, state, and even school level polices enable and constrain the actions that school leaders can take. Where do these policies come from? Who gets to decide? Whose interests are served? What significance do policies have for liberatory schooling and where are there opportunities to impact policies? In this graduate seminar, we will read and discuss text that draw from traditional and critical perspectives of education policy formation and implementation to answer these questions. The course will culminate in a final assignment where students conduct a critical policy analysis of a policy of their choice.
