RHET 131 - Written & Oral Communication

Unit(s): 4

In RHET 130/131, students explore rhetoric, the study and practice of doing things with language. Students use rhetorical principles to analyze and create written and spoken arguments. Students explore audience, context, and purpose and investigate how rhetoric shapes our beliefs, values, and actions. A core goal of this course is expressed in the Jesuit value of eloquentia perfecta–speaking and writing for the common good. Students gain practice writing, speaking, and multimodal communication, examining the ethics of making an impact with words.
