NURS 718 - Primary HC: Comm Parts Prac

This clinical practicum course provides the opportunity to apply knowledge and evaluate the risk of health problems and the impact of cultural, socioeconomic, and political influences on the health and well-being of individuals and communities in a “low-resource setting.” Students participate in an immersive community-based clinical experience while living among vulnerable populations. Students develop practice approaches and identify the skills necessary to provide care to patients with health disparities including the underinsured, immigrants, and the working poor. Students participate with other community-based partners to plan interdisciplinary interventions to improve patient outcomes and address health disparities.


Prerequisite: NURS 706 with a minimum grade of B- and NURS 707 with a minimum grade of B-
Restriction: College restricted to School of Nursing and Health Professions; Degree restricted to Doctor of Nursing Practice
