BIOL 330 - Female Biology

Female Biology is upper division Biology lecture elective. This course also counts towards the Gender and Sexuality Studies Minor. The focus of the course is on the evolution of the female sex and the unique biological aspects of the female sex. Topics covered include: genetics of sex, sexual identity, gender identity, sexuality, reproduction, anatomy, physiology and disease. This is also a community-engaged-learning course designed to develop your civic capacity to assist with women’s issues as members of the community. Through this, you will not only learn how important science is in women’s health and well-being but how critical it is to become advocates for women in the community as well. The course is designed in alignment with USF’s vision to develop ‘leaders who will fashion a more humane and just world’ (USF Vision Statement).This is a 4-unit class and per USF policy you should be prepared for a minimum of eight hours a week of work outside of class time.


Prerequisite: BIOL 310 with a minimum grade of C and BIOL 311 with a minimum grade of C and (CHEM 231 or CHEM 236)
Restriction: Field of study restricted to Biology Major
