Organization and Leadership, MA

The Master of Arts in Organization and Leadership gives students the opportunity to focus their study in several areas that represent current dimensions and challenges of leadership: the university, corporations, healthcare, technology, K-12 schooling, and international development. The M.A. in O&L requires the completion of 30 credits: 27 credits of course work and a 3-credit

Program Learning Outcomes


Masters Program Learning Outcomes:

  1. Critique Systems of Power
    • Identify ways institutions perpetuate, and create opportunities to challenge, injustice, inequality, and oppression.
  2. Organizational Complexities
    • Identify, describe, and critique theories for analyzing organizations and institutions and their relationship to society.
  3. Leadership
    • Identify, describe, and critique leadership theory and traditional approaches to leadership in educational settings and community contexts.
    • Articulate a leadership philosophy and develop practical approaches to function as agents of change.

Research Methodology (3 Units)


Complete 15 units in one of the of the following focus areas:


  • Higher Education
  • Interpretive Development and Organization Policy
  • K-12 Instructional Leadership
  • 21st Century Leadership

Electives (6 Units)


  • 6 units of electives in consultation with their faculty adviser

Required Thesis/Field Project (3 Units)
